Gus Newport tragically passed one year ago on June Gus Newport tragically passed one year ago on June 17, 2023. In honor of Mr. Newport's invaluable contributions to the Community Land Trust movement, we are sharing some images from 2012 when Steve from OakCLT had the privilege of spending two days with Gus and the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative in Boston. For an upstart CLT struggling to keep the lights on and make a case for the model in Oakland, getting to see the incredible fruits of a vision that Gus helped nurture in Roxbury was beyond inspiring. What an absolute gift to walk the Dudley triangle with Gus, John Barros, and May Louie 25+ years after the founding of DSNI to witness a transformed neighborhood with some of the individuals who literally brought the change to fruition. OakCLT is indebted to Gus, as well as the many staff, residents, board leaders, and members from DSNI. ❤️🙏❤️
